Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Atlas Macro is an education project operated by PNJ Capital Ltd ("we", "us"). We publish a free daily newsletter and the atlas-macro.com website (together, the "Services"). PNJ Capital Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here.
We collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
2. What we collect
Data you give us
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address, and your first name if you choose to give it, with the date you subscribed, confirmed and (if you do) unsubscribed.
- Emails you send us: your email address and whatever you write.
Data collected when you use the Services
- Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies): pages you view, links and buttons you click, and broad device and browser details, collected by PostHog.
- Visitor counts: anonymous page-view counts from Vercel Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you.
- Error reports: when something on the site breaks, technical details of the error, your browser type and the page you were on, sent to Sentry.
- Security data: your IP address and browser signals, used briefly to block bots on the sign-up form (Cloudflare Turnstile) and to limit repeated requests.
- Newsletter engagement: our emails may record whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked, so we can see what readers find useful. Blocking images in your email app stops open tracking.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
UK and EU data protection law requires a legal basis for each use of personal data. Ours are:
- Sending the newsletter: your consent, given when you sign up and confirm your address. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Analytics cookies: your consent, given in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
- Error reports, bot checks and rate limits: our legitimate interest in keeping the Services working and secure.
- Replying to your emails: our legitimate interest in answering you.
- Keeping records the law requires: our legal obligations.
4. How long we keep it
- Unconfirmed sign-ups: deleted after 30 days.
- Subscribers: for as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe we keep your email address and the date, only so we do not email you again. Ask us and we will delete it completely.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with them, and no longer than two years.
- Error reports: up to 90 days.
- Analytics: pseudonymous event data, kept only as long as it is useful for improving the Services.
- Security data: rate-limit counters expire within minutes.
5. Who processes it for us
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal data. We use these service providers, who process it only on our instructions:
- Neon: database holding the subscriber list (hosted in London)
- Resend: sends the newsletter and other emails
- Vercel: website hosting and anonymous visitor counts
- PostHog: product analytics, only with your consent (hosted in the EU)
- Sentry: error monitoring
- Cloudflare: Turnstile bot check on the sign-up form
- Redis Cloud: short-lived rate-limit counters
We may also share data when the law requires it, or with a buyer if Atlas Macro is ever sold, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
6. International transfers
Some of these providers (Resend, Vercel, Sentry and Cloudflare) process data in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EU, it is protected by the UK-US Data Bridge or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or by standard contractual clauses.
7. Age
The Services are for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 16 has subscribed, tell us and we will delete their details.
8. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can:
- Access: ask for a copy of your personal data
- Correct: have inaccurate data fixed
- Delete: ask us to erase your data
- Restrict or object: ask us to limit or stop using it, including where we rely on legitimate interests
- Portability: receive your data in a common format
- Withdraw consent: unsubscribe, or change your cookie choice, at any time
To use any of these rights, email nick@atlas-macro.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to the subscriber list is limited to us, and our admin area needs a sign-in link sent to our own email. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affected your data we would tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
10. Cookies
Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie we use and how to change your choice.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will tell subscribers by email about any significant change.
